True enough, the article on the making of a scientist summarizes and enumerates what should be thought of when it comes to science। The answers given by the four women scientists interviewed were enough to create a realization among us. Yes, scientists are born to be made. It starts when we get interested on a certain topic which requires the knowledge of science. As we go deeper into it, we discover new ideas and as they said, the best part about it is that when we’re interested, we learn to enjoy all those. I also agreed in the fact that a lot of people, especially parents, influence a great deal of their children’s future. If the parents are supportive of whatever their children’s dreams are, then there is a high probability that it would be successful. Ü

“Becoming a scientist takes years and years of dedicated work।” That’s what Dr. Maricor N. Soriano believes in. And it is true. Other than that, mentors also influence the making of a science since they would be the ones to give their students a reason to be dedicated and inspired on what they are doing. Sending students to special science schools doesn’t necessarily mean that they have better education, it’s more of an advantage if they would be sent to study in a school with quality teachers, as Dr. Elaine Tolentino mentioned as an answer to whether she would send her child to a science school or not.

On the other hand, I was impressed with the article about the dream to restore lahar-strewn areas. The only sad part about that is the award has been given posthumously. In other words, it was just lately recognized. All in all, the articles can indeed influence a lot of students like us in taking science seriously and enjoying it at the same time; in doing that, we can have a good future ahead of us. Like Ms. Maricor N. Soriano, I hope what her adviser said about showing the world that we can indeed produce world-class scientists in our country would also be true during our times NOW. Ü
